Where to Take Dad this Father’s Day

Annie’s have two Father’s Day specials on, both $25: a Spanish omelette with chorizo, caramelised onion and potato, or brioche french toast with berry compote, crème fraîche and honey.

The Bunker Bistro is open for breakfast on Father’s Day, in the beer garden by the river at the golf club. Bookings are essential — call and press 2.

Beach House are open from 8am for all-day brunch and again from 5pm for dinner. A roast special runs for the day only — beef porterhouse in a pepper and mustard rub, with sautéed seasonal vegetables, housemade Yorkshire pudding and a red wine jus.

Rocketman are taking bookings for Father’s Day, with their usual menu and coffee on across the day.

The Dill are skipping the set menu this year and running their new menu instead. Off the grill there’s a shashlik platter — pork, chicken and lamb kofta — alongside a slow-cooked lamb stew and a smoked paprika chicken pilaf. Every dad gets a shot of the house-made berry liqueur.

** FULLY BOOKED FOR LUNCH - Dinner Availability ** Mr Grubb are running a Father’s Day à la carte menu among the Oakdene vines, with a house-smoked meat platter as the centrepiece alongside their regular dishes. Kids’ meals are $25 for 12 and under, including a drink and ice cream. Every dad goes into the draw for a Father’s Day hamper, and bookings are essential.

The Bowls Club are running a Father’s Day lunch from 12pm to 2pm, with a couple of special dishes on for the day. Every dad dining gets a free entry into the hamper giveaway, drawn at the end of lunch service. Bookings are essential.

Red Park are running a Father’s Day pizza lunch from 12pm, with bookings open online.

Pretty’s Place have a Father’s Day lunch menu running $26 to $28 — honey-garlic lamb cutlets, a steak sandwich, their signature Cape Grim burger, chicken parmigiana, and roast pork with salsa verde and gravy. Bookings are recommended.

At The Heads are bringing back their slow-cooked lamb shoulder as a Father’s Day Feast, $75 per person. Prawn rolls, croquettes and prosciutto toast to start, then the lamb with a choice of roast potatoes and brussels sprouts or chips and salad.

The Dunes have a fried chicken wings special on for Father’s Day — ten pieces with assorted sauces for $22, made for a few beers alongside.

Crispy pata is on at the Ocean Grove shop for Father’s Day only — pork hock slow-braised in a soy, vinegar and garlic glaze, then flash-fried and served with lettuce and pickled veg. Open from 11.30am, and they’ll take group bookings of 10 or more.

The Barwon Heads Hotel are open from 11.30am for lunch and dinner with the full menu on — an easy option for a bigger group or a more relaxed catch-up.

Manor Suite is open as usual this Father’s Day, with its share-style tapas, cocktails and wine list served in the historic Oakdene surrounds. Ziggy plays live from 1pm to 4pm — favourites from the ’70s onwards, alongside his own material. Full service and the regular menu run across the day.

Mona are putting on a few Festa del Papà specials, alongside the cicchetti-style plates and drinks they run the rest of the year. A produce basket goes to one table on the day — come in and you’re in the draw.

The Rove have Alex Parker on the decks from 3pm to 6pm, with food from Pholklore. Doors from 2pm, and $12 pints on all tap beers from 2pm to 6pm.

Boccabona are taking bookings for Father’s Day dinner, with their handmade pasta and the wine list on for the evening.
