About The Current
The Current is a local guide to Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. We publish what's on, where to eat and drink, and what to do this weekend, for the people who live here and the people visiting.
Who we are
The Current was founded in 2025 by Cam Stephenson and is based in Barwon Heads. It started as a simple answer to a question locals ask each other constantly — what's on this weekend? — and grew into a guide covering the whole Bellarine coast.
Because we cover a stretch of coast rather than a single town, you'll often see us referred to as The Current Barwon Heads or The Current Ocean Grove, and as The Current OGBH after our Instagram handle, @the_current_ogbh. They all mean the same thing: this site.
What we cover
We list local events and live music, write about food and drink, round up things to do, and keep a directory of the businesses and venues that make up Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and the wider Bellarine Peninsula — Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff, Portarlington, Drysdale, St Leonards and the towns in between.
Everything is maintained by hand and updated as the season changes, so a Saturday in January reads differently to a Saturday in July. Whether you've lived here for thirty years or you're down for the long weekend, the aim is the same: tell you what's actually happening, and where the locals go.
